April 27, 2012

We ended up leaving LaConner on Monday, 4/23.  Our first day only took us to Prevost Harbor on Stuart Island but the tides were right and Gary picked up a couple of dozen oysters!  We had wonderful oysters two nights in a row.
Day 2 took us to Nanaimo to clear customs and then on to Schooner Cove.  We ended up staying there 2 days because of a 40 mph blow in the Strait of Georgia.  Crumby place.  Good docks, nice people but no power and NOTHING there.  No store, no restaurant.  We each read a book!!  It really galls me to have to spend moorage in a place where there is nothing to do.
Yesterday, Thursday, we proceeded on flat water under blue skies to Gowland Harbor across from Campbell River.  Dropped the hook behind an island....gotta have a dog walk place....and had a great night on the hook.  Will leave here in about an hour for Seymour Narrows....need the right currents to get through there.... and then on to Cameleon Bay.  Plan to put out the prawn pots and have prawns for dinner.  Life is good.

April 8. 2012
Our latest goal is to leave home on April 25. Yikes, that is only 2 weeks away and I still have much to do. We plan to be gone for 3 months and we are once again taking aim at Alaska.

This is Jan 29, 2011. Our plan is to leave LaConner on May 15, my birthday and head north to Alaska once again. I am going to try to blog along the way this year and download some photos as we go. Wish me luck with that and us fair winds and calm seas.

First Attempt

Well that was easy. Holy Cow, I am now a blogger.
I have started this site to attempt to chronicle our boating adventures and allow friends and family to join us, at least on the web, as we cruise the waters of the Pacific Northwest.
Gary and I, and our dog Diesel, have been boating for 9 years.
Our boat is a 1989 34' Tollycraft Sedan named Channel Dancer. She is our summer home. We started boating when we moved to WA and have learned alot over the years.
We have traveled to Alaska 4 times and have circumnavigated Vancouver Island 5 times.
I have kept a computer journal on each of our trips but have never tried blogging. As I would make my daily entries I often wished I could let the folks at home know how much fun we are having right then and there!
My thanks for this new found ability go to a new e mail friend whose article I read in a boating magazine this fall. He and his family blogged their way to Alaska and he has given the confidence to give this a try.
Thanks.
So all this said, I am going to tell you about our latest adventure.
We like to take the boat to Victoria around Christmas time and we did again this year.
